Performance comes in two varieties. For light tasks, the Frontier King Cab offers a 152-horsepower engine. This inline four-cylinder unit comes with a choice of manual or automatic. It cranks out 171 lb.-ft. of torque to help move the load. The Frontier V6 is a 4.0-liter double overhead cam engine. It kicks out 261 horsepower and 281 lb.-ft. of torque. For better hauls, Nissan offers its Utili-track system. There are five special C cross-section rails with channels for utility cleats. This allows drivers to tie down their cargo for a safer ride. Ground clearance is 8.6 inches (rear-wheel drive) or 8.9 inches (four-wheel drive). The Frontier can tow up to 6,690 pounds with a built-in trailer hitch. A sliding bed extender gives you more length for payload. For better off-road rides, the Frontier Desert Runner and Pro-4X have Bilstein high-pressure shock absorbers. Pro-4X models have three kids plates and an electronic rear differential. Hill Descent Control works when the transfer case is in 4H at speeds up to 21 mph or in 4LO in speeds up to 15 mph.

Frontier cabs have extra-large rear doors to make it easy for passengers to access or for drivers to load cargo. The King Cab has flip-up rear seats. The Crew Cab has folding seats. Either way you can use the back row for storage. The truckmaker has tucked useful storage boxes under the rear seats. Other standards include center console storage and a locking dual glove box. Nissan also lets you delete the second-row seats on the King Cab. You can keep things simple or pick leather for your SUV-like Crew Cab. Desert Runners have unique upholstery with an embroidered logo. Satin Chrome rings provide a contrast to the white-face meter gauges. Amenities include heated, power front seats and dual-zone automatic climate controls. For a sportier ride, the Crew Cab SV and SL models offer a tilt and power-slide moonroof.

NissanConnect comes with a touchscreen display and Nissan Voice Recognition. Mobile Apps make it easier to utilize streaming audio via Bluetooth. With navigation, you can get SiriusXM Traffic and Travel subscriptions. SL models have a HomeLink Universal Receiver that can coordinate with your garage door opener.

Made with Zone Body construction, the 2018 Nissan Frontier has front and rear crumple zones to absorb force and perhaps stop impact from entering the cabin. The nissan Advanced Air Bag System includes dual front airbags and curtain side-impact air bags. LATCH attachments hold the carseats in place. A tire pressure monitoring system watches over all four tires individually. SL editions have power-heated outside mirrors to wipe away the rain or frost.
