Powertrain

Having the signature Endurance label, the Nissan Titan 5.6 L engine reaches a peak output of 390 horsepower. This V8 engine produces up to 394 pound-feet of torque when operating at 4,000 RPM. With the Toyota Tundra 4.6 L i-FORCE engine, you won't get more than 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque. Even the 5.7 L i-FORCE engine still doesn't produce as much hp at as the Endurance engine. Up to seven gear speeds in an automatic transmission are available in the versatile Titan model. Despite having an electronically controlled design, the Tundra automatic transmission is limited to six gear ratios. Both of these pickup trucks roll on a classic rear-wheel drive (RWD) that's designed for aggressive takeoffs on rough surfaces. A transfer case with two speeds is integrated into the the 4x4 drive system in this Nissan model. Additionally, the rear axle is linked to a locking rear differential that maximizes traction. Not all of the Tundra models are compatible with the part-time 4WD Demand system that comes with an automatic limited-slip differential. Shock absorbers by Bilstein also give the Titan an overall edge in off-road performance. A double-wishbone front suspension system and multi-leaf rear suspension stabilize this pickup truck on rugged and uneven landscapes. Both of these robust models are able to clear the ground by slightly more than 10 inches.

Technology

GPS navigation software is installed in the Titan infotainment system that's powered by the NissanConnect® suite. You can access Google to supplement the turn-by-turn directions that are already provided. With SiriusXM® data services, you'll receive the latest updates on traffic and weather conditions in your local area. More than 120 music channels are also included in SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. Featuring a dozen premium speakers, the Rockford Fosgate is tuned to produce clear acoustics for your favorite songs on iHeart Radio® and Pandora®. Connected to HD Radio and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, the Toyota Tundra JBL® audio system just doesn't match the quality of the Rockford Fosgate® system. The signature NissanConnect® portal offers seamless access to Facebook®, TripAdvisor® and Twitter®. You don't have such convenient connectivity options in the Tundra Entune® infotainment system. Some other benefits of the NissanConnect® plan include remote door lock/unlock, maintenance alerts and diagnostic reports. Both pickup trucks support wireless Bluetooth® technology for hands-free phone use.

Safety

Designed to scan the vicinity for any incoming cars from the side, the Blind Spot Warning is standard in some of the Nissan Titan trims. This active safety technology issues alerts in the Advanced Drive-Assist Display and the exterior side mirrors. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert is another accident-mitigation technology that's standard in select Titan models. In the Toyota Tundra, the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert could be purchased as part of a premium package. When equipped with the Moving Object Detection, the Titan offers better guidance for parking and backing up than the Tundra. This reliable Nissan pickup truck also has six total air bags that inflate promptly during crashes. A steering column that absorbs energy is another notable passive safety feature in this vehicle.
