Interior and Comfort

For its mid-size platform, the 2017 Nissan Rogue offers a class-leading seating capacity for seven occupants. This configuration is exclusively available with the Family Package. Up to 126.5 cubic feet of interior volume comes with this convenient package that essentially adds a third row. By contrast, the Toyota RAV4 only has two rows of seats that are designed for five people. Both crossover SUVs offer automatic climate control systems that have dual zones for precise temperature output in the front row. Additionally, vents release a steady flow of cool air in the Rogue rear seats. To enjoy a fresh breeze while you're behind the steering wheel, just open the power driver's window that has a one-touch control.

You may also open the panoramic moon roof that comes with an adjustable pane. The rear windows are covered in coatings that reduce glare, reflect UV rays and offer some measure of privacy. Some of the Rogue models are compatible with the Intelligent Climate Control, which could be remotely turned on and adjusted via an electronic key fob. The Nissan Intelligent Key is seamlessly linked to a push start button that's illuminated for extra appeal. When it comes to ergonomics, the Rogue is furnished with the Zero Gravity front seats. As their design implies, these seats mimic the type of support that's enjoyed by astronauts.

Handling

The Nissan Rogue Xtronic® transmission system doesn't require much input from the driver to create the right gear proportions. This is a continuously variable transmission that theoretically isn't bound by any limits in terms of gear ratios. In the Toyota RAV4, you have to choose one of six gear speeds that are managed by an automatic transmission system. Nevertheless, you have to give Toyota's engineers credit for integrating an electronic CVT into the hybrid RAV4 models. The Xtronic® CVT is tuned to cooperate with other cutting-edge technology that improves handling in various circumstances.

For example, the Active Trace Control maintains a steady centripetal force to keep this Nissan balanced on curved paths. When going down a steep incline, the Rogue is partially managed by the Active Engine Braking. Without this feature, you'd have to slam on the brakes very hard in order to prevent rapid acceleration. The Active Ride Control offers additional support in challenging conditions. Although it has the Dynamic Torque AWD, the RAV4 still lacks the agility and versatility of the Rogue.

Digital Technology

If you're looking for a virtual concierge on the go, you'll find one in the 2017 Rogue NissanConnect® infotainment system. Google® applications supplement the built-in GPS navigation platform in this advanced multimedia console. You can even open TripAdvisor to get some last-minute advice during your road trips. Facebook® and Twitter® are some other popular apps in the NissanConnect® portal. With seamless access to iHeartRadio®, Pandora® and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, you'll rarely get bored while cruising in this Nissan crossover SUV. Nine speakers by Bose® are available to blast popular music from any audio input. The Toyota RAV4 Entune® infotainment system and JBL® GreenEdge audio system don't quite match the features of the high-tech amenities of the Rogue.
